PrintWeek 12th March 1999

Grasmere Digital Imaging claims to be redefining the quickprinter by moving the shop front from the high street to the internet.

It will launch three Internet-based digital print services at next month's Northprint. Initially focusing on short-run business cards, it will allow users to order cards and submit and edit designs on-line. Services will be available for corporates, printers and individuals. Password protection and templates will allow authorised users to submit new card requests based on house styles.

The initial 125 cards will cost £16.50, with extra sets or different designs, costing £6.75 per 125. Orders received by midday will be despatched that evening for next morning delivery after processing and printing on its Indigo TurboStream.

Postcards to promote Comic Relief's website were produced using a digitally printed postcard service called NetCards.

The software and expertise was acquired at the end of last year by buying Card Corporation, a specialist in on-line print services (PrintWeek, 14 August). Divisional manager Ivor Jacobs said: "This is the print shop of the future."

The Company plans to introduce further services including letterheads, comp slips, T-shirts and mugs.
